We can now offer vacuum glass as an option on all of our windows. Ultra thin, so can satisfy certain criteria’s in listed buildings where “through bars” need to be used on windows. It can also in some instances be installed into your existing windows depending on rebate sizes and glazing bar widths. Due the unit having a vacuum between the two panes it can achieve even better U values than triple Glazed units. Get in touch if you have any questions regarding this thorough our “contact page”, and please see the images below for more information.

We have recently started the 1st phase of restoration and draught proofing of sash windows to a property in Oxton, Wirral. These two windows were in the basement of the property and looked as though they hadn't been touched since the house was built over a 100 years ago. Apart from one cill replacement, the timber in the boxes and sashes was still in great condition, and the customer couldn't believe how well they looked once completed. We now have six other windows to install our Double Glazed Accoya sashes into. Keep an eye out for more photos as the job progresses.
We now offer two choices of mechanism when upgrading your box sash windows, to our fully finished, Accoya double glazed sashes.
We can now install your sashes using top of the range Spring balances, instead of the traditional cords and weights approach.
Using balances avoids the need for expensive lead weights as the double glazed units add a significant amount of weight compared to the old single glazed sashes. Spring balances also overcome the issue of binding or jamming that sometimes occurs when obstacles or space is at a minimum in the box frame. Fitting Spring balances allows us to fill in the apperture left behind the old pulley wheel, stopping any draughts finding their way in through the box and cavities of your walls, making your windows even more energy efficient.
We often get asked....."isn't it better to replace with PVC?"
No!
Keeping your period property's original windows, and utilising our sash window draught proofing and restoration service, will not only stop the draughts and rattles associated with old sash windows, but will add value to your home, by retaining its original features, such as the old drawn glass, with all its imperfections, any original panneling, architraves and mouldings.
Windows are often overlooked as having an importance on how a building looks, but choose any street near by that has a selection of old property's, and compare the houses that have had PVC Windows installed, to the houses that still retain their original sash windows, and I'm sure you'll agree.
So, before you decide to replace your sash windows, get in touch with us first to see what we can do.....
